La dune du Pyla est située à l'entrée sud du Bassin d’Arcachon. Gigantesque dune maritime mobile, elle avance inexorablement vers l'intérieur du pays et son altitude varie constamment, tout en oscillant aux environs de 100 à 117 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer.
